Multi-wavelength Monitoring of the Symbiotic Star RT Cru with Swift
Abstract
The symbiotic star RT Cru was monitored in the X-ray and ultraviolet regimes with the Swift XRT and UVOT cameras, respectively for 6 months with a cadence of one observation approximately every two weeks, for a total of 24 pointings. We present results of the timing analysis of the soft (E < 5.5 keV) and hard (E> 5.5 keV) spectral components as well as UV magnitudes. Preliminary results show that the soft X-ray emission is highly variable on a time scale of weeks to months. The hard component also varies, but with a lower amplitude. We discuss possible scenarios for the origin of the observed variability.
